director
George Retelas is a filmmaker and storyteller dedicated to preserving the personal histories of America’s veterans. His journey began after discovering his late grandfather’s World War II journal, filled with mementos from his service in the South Pacific. Inspired to honor that legacy, George traveled across the United States in 2014 to interview his grandfather’s fellow airmen, ultimately creating the oral history documentary, Eleven: The Movie. The success of that film opened the door to many unexpected blessings, paving the way for its sequel, Sundown to Eleven. Through these projects, George has combined his passion for storytelling with a deep sense of empathy, ensuring the sacrifices and heroism of veterans are remembered for generations to come. George is a graduate of California State University, Stanislaus, and holds a Master’s degree from the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at San José State University.
